Baltimore Camera Club
2018 Spring Trip to Western Maryland and Lonaconing Silk Mill
May 18 – May 20
This spring the Baltimore Camera Club will venture out to western Maryland over the weekend of May 18 to 20, 2018. On May 19th from 9am to 1pm we will have access to the Lonaconing Silk Mill for photography purposes. The mill, once operated by the Klotz Throwing Company, was abandoned in 1957 due to a labor dispute and was left completely untouched. The access is granted by the owner of the building for a fee of 100.00 per person which is paid directly to the owner. The money is used for restoration of the building which badly needs repairs.
Accommodations are at the historic Gunter Hotel (301-689-6511) in downtown Frostburg which is a quaint college town. We are holding 11 rooms at the hotel - 3 of which have two double beds and the remaining 8 have queen beds. The rates are right around 100.00 per room per night plus tax. AAA and AARP discounts are available as well. When calling the hotel please identify yourself as a Baltimore Camera Club member. A credit card is needed but will not be charged until your arrival. The block of rooms will be held until April 18, 2018 at which time unsold rooms will be released back to the hotel.
The hotel has a bar and a restaurant and if requested we can arrange for a group dinner on Friday or Saturday evening.
As always, please direct any questions to Lewis Katz (firstname.lastname@example.org) via email. Advise Lewis via email after you have made a reservation.
