Baltimore Camera Club

2018 Spring Trip to Western Maryland and Lonaconing Silk Mill

May 18 May 20

This spring the Baltimore Camera Club will venture out to western Maryland over the weekend of May 18 to 20, 2018.  On May 19th from 9am to 1pm we will have access to the Lonaconing Silk Mill for photography purposes.  The mill, once operated by the Klotz Throwing Company, was abandoned in 1957 due to a labor dispute and was left completely untouched.  The access is granted by the owner of the building for a fee of 100.00 per person which is paid directly to the owner.  The money is used for restoration of the building which badly needs repairs.

Accommodations will now be at the Hampton Inn in Frostburg becasue the historic Gunter Hotel where planned to stay will be closed for renovations. The rate per room per night at the Hampton Inn is 114.00 plus tax or 102.60 plus tax if you are AAA or AARP.  They have good availability and offer rooms with one king bed or two queens.  Breakfast each morning is included in the rate.  You can either book online at the Hampton Inn website or by calling the hotel directly at 301-689-1998.

Since there is no restaurant at the Hampton Inn we have located a suitable place for us to have dinner together on Saturday night if there is enough interest.  It is called the Sand Spring Saloon and is located near the Hampton Inn and offers a very diverse menu.  Please do let Lewis Katz know if you want to have dinner as a group on Saturday evening so that he can call the restaurant and make a reservation.

As always, please direct any questions to Lewis Katz ( via email.  Advise Lewis via email after you have made a reservation.
